Tom Lantos has been a voice for strong policies to protect our nation, but he has expressed concern that we have seriously underfunded programs to protect us at home. The bungled federal government response to hurricane Katrina on the U.S. Gulf Coast demonstrated the Administration's failures to deal with our preparedness to face emergency situations.
